| Hypnotism - Role of Subconscious Mind |
|
Concept of subconscious mind is a mirage. There is no basis for dividing the phenomena of mind into different levels. It is more than seven to eight decades since the physiological basis of mental activities and memory was exposed through scientific experiments. These experimental works of Ivan Petrovich Pavlov and his colleagues are well known to the world of science. However, the so-called intellectuals find it their birth right to hang on the ideas of conscious, subconscious, super conscious and all those imaginary attributes of mind expounded by people of total subjectivism. In fact Mind is not a separate entity separate from physical body. What people refer as 'mind' is really physic. There is no sense in dividing mind into different levels.

Scientific experimental works of Ivan Petrovich Pavlov and his colleagues are well known to the world of science. However, the so-called intellectuals find it right to hang on the cursed ideas of conscious, subconscious, super conscious and other imaginary attributes of mind expounded by people of total subjectivism. What exactly is Mind? Mind is not a an entity separate from physical body. What people generally refer as 'mind' is really physic. The sum total of different reactions of the sensory centres to various stimuli emanating from both the internal and external environs is "mind". In this context the concept of mind getting connected to physical body is deceptive. The human body consists of body cells and nerve cells. Both the body cells and the nerve cells form part of the body or the physic. Feelings and emotions are felt as a result of excitation of the nerve cells. Excitation takes place when certain stimulus reacts with the nerve cells in the sensory centres. The stimuli from environs reach central nervous system through different nerve connections in the sensory centres that represent vision, hearing, smell, taste, and touch. These five sensory nerve centres are there in the physic at the time of birth itself. The mental activity providing for cardiac pulsations, blood circulation, breathing, ingestion and touch are ingrained at the time of birth and are made possible by permanent nerve connections controlled by unconditioned reflex actions. The mental activity governed by unconditioned reflex action would just keep the organism to meet bare subsistence needs. These bare needs are to be supplemented by innumerable temporary nerve connections which are formed after the organism is born. These nerve connections are activated by conditioned reflex actions. Human mind represents the combination of both unconditioned reflex and conditioned reflex actions in the central nervous system. Organism survives in the environment. Organism grows and fulfills biological calls through the nervous activities that are guided, controlled and executed by unconditioned and conditioned reflex actions. These are supported and supplemented by inherent biochemical formulations of congenital origin. These processes are really complex in nature but very quick in execution. These are the processes behind the phenomenon called "mind". Phenomena of mind need not and cannot be divided into different levels to be called, "conscious mind" and "subconscious mind". Hypnotism is closely connected with sleep. Both sleep and hypnotism are induced by and through restive inhibitory state of sensory centres in the cerebral cortex. In natural sleep the restive inhibition of the nervous system is brought in by unconditioned reflex actions. In hypnotic sleep the restive inhibition is created by and through conditioned reflex actions. Hypnotism has nothing to do with non-existent sub-conscious mind. Phenomena of mind is combined conglomerate. Mind cannot and need not be divided into different levels. Such moves are unfathomable and the subjective efforts to do that is unscientific. |
