Internet Marketing is so unlike any regular 8-5 jobs. In an office setting, workers devote their entire eight hours to their jobs while working online means staying at home. Staying at home while working has its perks and also some disadvantages. There are so many forms of distraction for an Internet marketer.

Nowadays, most marketers work as freelancers. A good handful works on Internet marketing as part-timers while some go full-time. Whether working part or full-time, it is always important for any type of worker to balance his career (or any means that provides him income) with his personal life.

In this world where technology is constantly changing, it is best to keep up so as not to be left behind. Internet jobs abound and so do marketers who offer services or products online. And with this fast-paced world trudging onwards each day, time really means gold.

If time really is this precious, it is imperative that all internet marketers manage their schedules. Being able to manage 24 hours each day is not an easy task. A person needs to keep account and prioritize his activities so that he would be able to fit them into the available time that he has each day.

Time management is a skill that can be acquired through constant practice. One good indicator that a person is not managing his schedule well enough is when he starts to wish that he has 36 hours instead of the usual 24; or when, at the end of the day, this person lies down feeling all tired and beaten up.

Here are some time-tested tips on how to beat time in its game and come out a winner:

1. Know how much available time you really have. Account for the number of hours that you cannot really use such as those that you spend sleeping, taking a bath, eating, or even traveling. Remember that time won't wait for anyone that is why the adjustment has to come from--you.

2. Know which activities to prioritize. Which things do you really need to finish within the day? This does not mean that you have to procrastinate. This only means that activities should be prioritized so that the most important ones are finished first and all the other not-so-important ones lag behind. For example, throw away all the activities that you could do without such as net surfing or watching TV for hours. Those wasted time could be used to do much more productive activities.

3. Create a schedule that would work for you. It is important to know when you are usually up and about and to schedule these hours as your work time. Inform family members to respect those hours-no excuses. Also, begin with a simple schedule that is easy to follow and as you improve on keeping up with the initial time allotment, you could easily adjust to have more production.

4. Do concise planning. Set some realistic goals and reach them. Organize all files on the computer to save all those precious minutes on retrieving them. Also, keep a written reminder of all the goals that have been set. Many studies have proven that people who write down their goals have a higher percentage of reaching them. Once the goals are written down, read them (daily if you can!).

5. Be creative--do multi-tasking. While eating your sandwich for lunch, you could also browse over some e-mails or read some documents. While downloading any files, it is also better to peruse over all the unread e-mails.

6. Instill discipline in your system. For any schedules that have been set, it is important to religiously follow them. If you fail in reaching the goals, keep trying. For any practice to become a habit, it is important to keep doing it.

7. Take a break. When things get complicated or tough, it is always good to give yourself a break. Drink a mug of hot chocolate (a good 15 minutes should suffice) then head on with any pending tasks.

At the end of the day, it is important to give yourself a pat on the back. Don't look at all the failures but all of the things that you were able to achieve and you will be more encouraged to go on to the next day. With a relaxed disposition and positive thinking, there is nothing that an Internet marketer like you won't be able to achieve.
