| Those Annoying Squeeze Pages and Marketers Who Think They Have to Have Them |
|
I have given up watching Television because I am still obsessed with searching for a honest Internet marketing business. Now I spend my time learning how to use new programs, how to get an email list started, how to improve my website design, looking for affiliate products, evaluating pitch pages, learning about Google AdWords and many other things involved with this Internet business quest.
I have recently decided that I don't like drop-down squeeze pages and I promise never to use them. I get to a sales page, and I start reading it when some small window drops down into my face offering something free and asking for my email address and name. Of course I love getting things free, and I don't mind giving out my email address to get it, but I don't like being annoyed with a drop down window in my face while I am trying to read a very long pitch page. I also don't like clicking on a link for information and finding myself on a small squeeze page that has no information at all, but they want you to give them your name and email address. That is why they call it a squeeze page I guess. Before they give up any of their precious information, they demand your email address. I don't like it. Your information is not that special to me, an if you can't share any of it at all, you don't strike me as a very generous person. Therefore I promise that none of my websites will have annoying squeeze pages or annoying drop down pages, or pop up pages. I might have a place where you can sign up for something free, or subscribe to my newsletter, but it won't be in your face. For any of you super Internet marketers who think I am crazy, (and you know who you are) I say that you and your squeeze pages are annoying. Your pop-up pages are annoying, your one-time offers are annoying, and your pop-up live chat windows are annoying. Recently I moved my cursor towards the back button on a sales page and the corner of the page peeled down and a voice shouted "Wait Stop!" I have to tell you it scared me. Then I was a little amused. I moved my cursor up towards the back button again and it happened again. Very cute, I thought. But, still ..annoying. I sometimes feel like I am at a carnival and the carnival people are all yelling and reaching for me wanting me to come to their cheesy booth and throw my quarters at their jars of gold fish or some such thing. Well if you want to do business that way, I guess it's your business but I'm just going to hit the back button, and I won't be promoting your product. |
