Is Niche Marketing Right For You?
How to decide if niche marketing is the right choice for you and your business. A simple way to tell if it is something you want to pursue.

Perhaps you have only recently learned of niche marketing, or maybe you have heard about it for quite some time but have only recently decided to look into it. Either way, you are probably wondering if niche marketing is right for you. It sounds like a fairly easy question, but there are a few things to consider.

What is a niche? Simply put, a niche is any segment of the market that is interested in the same thing. Dog owners, guitar players, home owners, people in debt, chimney sweeps, and the list truly goes on. Any group that focuses on one thing is a niche, The trick is how specific the niche is and how willing it is to spend money. Let's look at the first sample group of dog owners. That is certainly a niche by itself, but it can be broken down into specific classes or breeds. Working dogs, or cocker spaniel owners would be a more precise niche.

Will you get sick of it? "Find your passion" is a bit of advice that is often given to beginning niche marketers, but it is not completely necessary. There is a chance that the thing you are passionate about just won't bring in revenue. So, the real question is whether or not you will be able to sustain the interest in the niche topic of your choice. If you think you will get sick of writing about the same thing, or creating new sites on the topic, then you will need to look for another niche. At this point some savvy marketers will think that they can just outsource everything. That is only true to a point and usually not the best move for your first niche. This is because you will still be injecting some of yourself into different aspects of what you do in the niche. People will respond to you better if they think you share their passion.

What are you waiting for? In reality, niche marketing is fairly simple, but it does require some research. At first, look for a specific niche that you care about in some way, and that people are spending money on. Identifying a profitable niche takes a little bit of work and common sense, but is a skill that can be learned. It still takes time, but is worth it in the long run.
