| Internet Marketing - What You Must Know Before You Start Your Online Business - Part 1 |
|
As an Internet Marketer, you have thousands of e-books available that promise to teach you how to start your home business. But, a huge percentage of these books under-deliver. Instead they tend to be 30-40 pages long and filled with 'fluff and fill' - i.e. they do not help you at all. The 'sales page' was so convincing that you parted with your hard earned cash fully believing that it was a worthwhile investment. It seems to be a common practise in today's on-line marketing community that more effort is made on the sales letter than the actual product it is promoting.
Recently it seems to be a common practice in the online marketing community that more effort is made on the sales letter than the actual product it is promoting. The most disappointing fact is that there are very few marketing books out there that cover the basics. So, this is what we are going to discuss below. Firstly, before you do anything, you need to develop a success mindset. If you do not believe that your business is going to be successful, then you can be pretty sure that it won't be. You need to believe in your own ability and you sure as hell need to believe in the business that you are planning. Another important point to make here, is that if you do not believe in the product or service you will be selling, then how will you possibly convince the average consumer to do so - and part with his/her cash. There are many self-development/improvement books on the market, and it's thoroughly recommended that you read a few. Secondly, and extremely importantly, you need a plan. There is an old saying that goes like this; "Fail to plan, and you plan to fail" Repeat this several times to yourself as it could be one of the most important phrases you'll ever read. Let's put this into perspective; If you were driving from A to B (and you had never made this journey before), would you just jump in a car and go? Or, would you plan your route beforehand? Hopefully you chose the second option. To put this in a business perspective, you at least need a basic plan to get started. If compared to a traditional 'bricks and mortar' business - which would involve a detailed business plan to present to the bank, or other potential investors - then much less effort is required. Having said this, you still need direction. You need goals and a definitive plan on how you are going to achieve those goals. It doesn't matter if you need to make changes to your original plan along the way, as long as you have some sort of plan in place before you start your online business. |
