| How To Take on That Daunting Task Of Building Your Business |
|
Most tasks in life seem daunting and almost impossible to take on. If you are like most people you will ask where do I start and how do I get to the end. If you find yourself in this predicament then you need to read this article!
Ever look at a tall building and wonder how did this building concept come to life? When looking at the structure it looks like an impossible task to achieve. If you stop to think about it you will realized that as impossible as it seems to build an incredible structure as a tall building it was done in steps and sometimes in very small steps. The task never seems as daunting when you break it down. First you must place the foundation, then the steel frame, then the outside frame, then the electrical, plumbing and interior walls. Next all the finishing touches like painting, decorating, etc. Once this is done you are ready to occupy for its intended purpose. Not bad when you look at it that way. The same is true for building your online business! You may look at someone else's success and say I could never do that. I don't know how to build a website, what products to sell, how to set up an order page, how to get visitors to my site, how to set up a merchant account, on and on. Guess what! This is no different then the building. If you break the tasks down and begin as they say at the beginning it is not that daunting at all. Years ago I built my first website long before there was any significant software to assist a person. Today there are so many programs out there that make this task easy that anyone can do it. You just have to go and get one of those programs and begin learning how to use it. It will not take that long. Once you learn how to build a site then you need to know what to sell. To me that is easiest of all. I would look to sell something that interests you personally. Perhaps you have a specific hobby like fishing, collecting coins or stamps, or building models. Or you may have a specific skill like scuba diving, making pottery, or cooking. Whatever your hobbies or interest it is a best bet to start marketing what you know. Ok now comes the fun part. What good is a store if it is located in the desert and there is no traffic or people to see it. You must learn the art of advertising or getting traffic to your site. Again this seems daunting but once again you must break this task down to little parts. There is no one single way to accomplish this and many an article has been dedicated to this. Web site submission to search engines is always a great place to start. You will need to create links to your site, key words, and build the infrastructure just to allow your site to be not only searchable but distinguishable from other sites. Once done you will see yourself rise mightily in the search engines. That is always a good thing. Once your site is built and you are up and running and making sales you must constantly reevaluate where you are and what you are doing to maximize both exposure and interest. If not, your business will not grow as you would like. To me this is the fun part. After all you put in all this work now is the time to fine tune and make improvements. Even that large building structure will not stand proudly if there is no maintenance. How much more appealing will that building be when cosmetic improvements are made or even interesting building use is added and defined. Breaking tasks down to very small achievable parts will soon have you building majestic sites that were unimaginable. Every one of us has to start somewhere so why not start at the beginning and stop letting that daunting structure have you in awe. |
