How to Choose a Niche - 3 Main Reasons Why Some Niches Dont Work
Many new internet marketers fail to choose the right niche. Don't make the same mistake and learn the 3 main reasons why some niches don't work, no matter how hard you try...

Wouldn't you agree that choosing a niche is one of the most difficult tasks for a internet marketer?

Well, that's the reason why most wanna-be-marketers fail. They choose the wrong niche, struggle to survive and finally give up, thinking internet marketing 'does not work for them'. But guess what: If you are able to get into the right niche you are on the road to success!

Sounds easier than it is, right? So how can you know if a niche is good or bad? How can you tell if a certain niche is right or wrong?

There are basically three main factors why a niche does not work.

Let's have a look at the first one:

1. Too much competition.

If you don't have a unique selling proposition, too much competition will throw you off. Note that we are not talking about 'competition', because competition means there is money in that niche. We are talking about 'too much competition'. Examples: Weight loss and internet marketing. These niches are extremely competitive and you would need a very unique product and a very impressive budget to enter them successfully. Does that mean weight loss and Internet Marketing are off your limits?

No! You have to attack a part of the niche that is not too competitive. How could you do that? By targeting demographics.

Examples: 'Safe weight loss for teenagers' or 'Weight loss for men over 35'. If you wanted to enter the golf market (which is very competitive) you could target 'golf for seniors'.

Be more specific and you limit your competition. And: the specific groups you are targeting feel attracted to what you have to say. They feel you understand their specific needs and that will open them up for your message.

2. Not enough interest.

Collecting insect wings might thrill you like nothing else but are there enough people that share your passion to make this niche profitable? Probably not. The only way to find that out: research. If the numbers speak against a niche you have to pass on it. Don't fall in love with a niche if it is not profitable.

3. You can't stand the niche.

If you don't like the niche you are trying to enter it's very hard to finish anything you are working on. You will feel like going through hell every time you work on your stuff. People will notice and that will turn them off. How you feel about a niche will show through if you like or not.

You do not have to choose a niche you know a lot about but one that you are curious about and you are willing to learn about. This will make life so much easier, especially in the beginning. If you want to enter other niches later, no problem. But at least you had the practice with something you really enjoyed.

Okay, fine, but how to research if a niche is profitable?
