| Do You Make This Bum Marketing Mistake? |
|
There are too many people who are trying out Bum Marketing to see if they can make money online. The lure of Bum Marketing is that you can write a bunch of articles and start to see passive income flowing in month after month. However, most people are approaching article marketing the wrong way. Are you one of them? Read this article to find out what I mean.
I have seen so many forum posts on "Bum Marketing" that if I see another one, I'll scream. It seems that everyone wants to be a bum marketer. The thinking is that if you have a lot of articles out there, you will make a lot of affiliate sales through the links in your article resource box. This has turned many people who are thinking of generating an online income into article writing machines. Stop for a minute and ask yourself how many people are trying this exact same strategy and promoting the same products? The biggest mistake is the herd mentality. Rather than promoting affiliate products, you should be building your own email list. Which would you rather have? Someone who reads your article and then buys the product you recommended or someone who signs up to your email list that you can market to over and over again? The key here is to focus on building your business rather than just the quick affiliate sale. I think that a lot of people are simply "trying" out this bum marketing technique without a solid plan in place. You know the saying that failing to plan is planning to fail. I was just reading in the Warrior Forum about someone who has written 900 articles and reports just an average of $87 per month of income. If you take the 900 articles and estimate that it takes on average 20 minutes to write each one, that works out to be 300 hours of writing. Now suppose that those articles are generating $87 every month for the entire year. That works out to be close to $3.50 per hour for your effort! I think you will make more money flipping burgers at McDonald's. Please understand that I am not saying that you cannot make good money with bum marketing. There are people who have done it. However, it is not as easy as you think. You have to know what types of keywords to target and how to write an article that effectively presells the product. Having said that, it is far easier to get someone to sign up to your email list if you offer them a free report rather than hoping that they will buy a product immediately after reading your article. In summary, focus on building your own business rather than promoting every single affiliate product in the ClickBank marketplace. Learn the fundamentals of how to build and promote to your list. In the long run, you will find that your list becomes a valuable asset to your business. If you were to start a new website in a related niche, you can send out an email to your list to tell them about it. In essence, you have a source of on demand traffic without having to pay for it. |
