|
I used to read a book to where Big Bird from Sesame Street said "everyone makes mistakes". This is especially true when it comes to marketing an Internet business. Let's take a look at seven common Internet marketing mistakes you might be making yourself!
My kids used to like me to read them a Sesame Street book where Big Bird said " it's o.k. everyone makes mistakes". He could be talking to internet business owners as well. Let's take a look at seven common internet marketing mistakes you might be making yourself! 1. Not having a website. This is especially common in affiliate marketing. You see affiliate marketers sending traffic directly to the replicated website that comes from the affiliate merchant. You will find that the most successful affiliate marketers have their own website and do not make this common mistake. 2. Not building a list. It is amazing how many websites do not have opt in box to build their own mailing list. It is important that you get their name and email address for future follow up because most people will not make a purchase on their first visit. Plus having a mailing list is an asset you can cultivate for many years to come. 3. Not pre selling before selling. Because people have so many choices online they want to be informed before they buy anything. Pre seselling a visitor is smart business and not doing it is a mistake that will cost you potential customers. 4. Not having a blog. Chances are your top competitors have a blog and are beating you are your own game. Plus search engines love blogs and having one is an excellent way to increase traffic and build relationships. 5. Not getting enough quality traffic. For some reason many Internet marketers do not treat their website as an Internet business. Every business needs visitors coming into their store if they expect to make money. You will not make sales if you are not getting enough quality traffic everyday. 6. Not focusing. This is a common mistake that kills many Internet businesses. It can be easy to find yourself surfing the Internet and not accomplishing anything because many people do Internet marketing on a part-time basis. You also see this when it comes to people that have multiple websites. They are not actually making money with a any website because they don't focus on getting one site up and running before they add another one. 7. Not targeting longtail keywords. Search engine traffic should be one of your top forms of Internet traffic. Because shorter keyword phrases are more competitive, this presents an opportunity for you to target longer phrases and get search engine traffic from them. This is seven common Internet marketing mistakes I see every day. If you are making one or more of these, chances are your Internet business is not growing at the profitable rate that it could be! |
